The Environment School, launched in 2004,
The Youth Environment and Life Conservation School (“Environment School”) selects a total of 60 middle school students (30 males, 30 females) from among the applicants and gives them the opportunity to participate in an event in which they can learn how precious the environment is and how they can help protect it while staying amidst nature for four nights and five days.
The Environment School, launched in 2004, aims to help young people realize how precious the environment is and how it is increasingly being destroyed by humans, so that they can practice environmental protection in their everyday lives. This event also gives young people valuable opportunities to relieve their stress from severely competing with others in entering higher schools; to marvel at the beauty of nature, such as the mountains, rivers, and fields; and to appreciate the preciousness even of trifles, such as flowers, insects, and grass.
The participants learn about the ecosystems, including mountains and rivers, and discuss related subjects with their friends as well as personally experience such ecosystems. Also, the Environment School holds Small Concert in the Forest each year to allow the participants to feel the blending of natural beauty and melodies, and to write and present a Green Paper about how they felt during the program and what they learned through it. This wraps up the event.
The Environment School aims to awaken the youths to today’s environmental destruction problem, to prod them to become environmental protectors, and to persuade them to impart what they learned to their families and friends.
Application period : May-June each year
