Bacchus Cup Nationwide City and Province Student Golf Teams Championship (2005-present)
Bacchus Cup Nationwide City and Province Student Golf Teams Championship is jointly hosted by Dong-A Socio Holdings and SBS Golf Channel to foster young golfers. The competition can be participated in by domestic elementary, middle, and high school students registered with Korea Golf Association, and is one of the golf competitions that junior golf stars and aspirants nationwide very much want to participate in each year to be able to enter the golf arena.
For the match method, in the group event, the elementary and middle school divisions form teams, respectively, each consisting of two members who are to play 36-hole strokes for two days. The scores of the two members are added up each day, and the lowest-stroke-score team wins. The group high school division also forms teams, each consisting of three members who are to play 36-hole strokes for two days. The scores of the best two members among the three are added up each day, and the lowest-stroke-score team wins.
Individual games are not separately held, but the lowest-stroke player among the group participants after playing 36-hole strokes wins in the individual division.
In 1976, Dong-A Socio Group held the country’s first professional golf competition, Oran-C Open Golf Championship. In addition, from 1987 to 2006, Pocari Sweat Open Golf Championship was held with the sponsorship of Dong-A Otsuka, and it was the second championship to be named after the beverage brand, following the Oran-C Open Golf Championship. Players from four countries — South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, and Singapore — participated in the championship. As such, Pocari Sweat Open Golf Championship boasted the longest-tradition golf championship hosted by a South Korean company in KPGA.
With our strong sponsorship of golf championships, winners such as Choi Kyung-ju have entered the overseas stage, have performed well, and have joined the ranks of world-class players.
Dong-A Socio Holdings, which has been fostering young golf aspirants over the past 30 years, vows to continuously sponsor Bacchus Cup Nationwide City and Province Student Golf Teams Championship.
